Figure Preorder Terms Explained: Deposits, Balances and Release Estimates
Quick answer: Separate the payment stage from the product’s production and shipping stages. A deposit is a payment option to clarify, a release estimate concerns the expected product schedule, and dispatch concerns the parcel. None of those labels alone confirms a delivery date.
Figure listings often use short labels that assume the reader knows the preorder process. The same word can also be used differently by different sellers. This glossary helps you ask precise questions; the selected listing, order confirmation and current store terms determine the details of a particular order.
Deposit and full payment
A deposit option generally means an initial payment with further payment still to be addressed. Check the full item price, the amount paid now, the remaining balance and any conditions attached to the option. Do not assume that the smallest number in a price range is the complete price of the pictured edition.
A full-payment option describes the item payment arrangement, but it does not by itself confirm that shipping or applicable taxes are included. At VSFIG, shipping is quoted for each order, and buyers are responsible for applicable taxes. Check the relevant quote and order details before paying.
Remaining balance or balance payment
This refers to an amount still due under the selected payment arrangement. Ask how and when you will receive instructions, what the instructions cover and whether shipping will be quoted separately. Save the order confirmation so you can compare a later request with the edition and payment option you selected.
If a request is unclear, contact support through the official website channel. Avoid assuming that a general example in a blog establishes the balance deadline for your order.
Estimated release date
This is an estimate of a product milestone, not a confirmed date at your address. Ask what the seller means by the date: the studio’s expected release, arrival at its warehouse or another stage. Production schedules and delivery arrangements should be discussed separately.
When a listing uses a quarter, such as Q4, it describes a three-month part of the calendar year. Q1 is January–March, Q2 April–June, Q3 July–September, and Q4 October–December. A quarter estimate is still an estimate, not a specific dispatch day.
Warehouse arrival, processing and dispatch
Warehouse arrival concerns the stock reaching the seller or fulfillment location. Processing concerns preparation of your order. Dispatch concerns the shipment leaving that location. Ask which stage an update describes rather than translating every “arriving soon” message into an expected delivery day.
A tracking reference is useful to save, but interpret its status with the carrier’s information. If the carrier status and a message seem inconsistent, request clarification with your order reference.
Preorder, in stock and sold out
These labels describe availability, but check the selected edition or option. A product page can contain several versions with different availability. “Sold out” does not promise a future restock, and a preorder listing does not establish that production is complete.
Use our specification checklist to keep the version and status connected. The anime statue preorder guide covers the broader ordering process.
A concise set of questions before ordering
- Which exact edition does this payment option cover?
- What is paid now, and what remains payable?
- What milestone does the release estimate describe?
- How will shipping be quoted and balance instructions sent?
- Which cancellation and return terms apply?
Keep the order stages separate
| Stage | Record to keep | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Initial payment | Selected edition and amount paid | Is this a deposit or full item payment? |
| Release update | Date of the estimate and its stated milestone | Does this mean production release or warehouse arrival? |
| Balance and shipping | Written payment instructions and shipping quote | Which amounts remain payable? |
| Dispatch | Tracking reference and carrier update | Has the parcel been handed to the carrier? |
Put the guide to use
Compare current listings. On a listing, check the selected option and its availability; this stage table does not create a balance deadline or guarantee a delivery date.
Frequently asked questions
Does full payment mean immediate shipping?
No. Payment arrangement and availability are separate details. Confirm the selected item’s current status.
Can I use a release quarter to plan a gift deadline?
Treat it as an estimate and ask about timing separately. Our figure gift checklist explains how to handle an occasion with a fixed date.
